Larry Shreeve: The Bridge Between Market and Brand
As the elder founder, LARRY SHREEVE excels at market research and client relations—skills rooted in his ability to understand customer needs. Early on, he learned to listen beyond transactions: while working odd jobs, he noted common furniture gripes (uncomfortable armrests, fading fabric) that planted his focus on market insight.
Post-high school, LARRY SHREEVE prioritized market understanding over sales, visiting households, design firms, and repair shops to document pain points (worn cushions, loose seams). This expertise made his client reception work invaluable—he didn’t just greet customers, but tailored recommendations to their needs (e.g., stain-resistant fabric for families). He became the bridge between market demands and his co-founder’s designs.
Ethan Shreeve: The Mind Behind the Sofa’s Soul
As his co-founder, ETHAN SHREEVE is the quiet (R&D) and design force, obsessed with turning market needs into durable sofas. His foundation was grandfather’s basement workshop, where he dissected old furniture to master sturdiness—labeling springs, testing wood, and refining joint designs to fix common flaws.
ETHAN SHREEVE’s workshop—filled with swatches, foam, and prototypes—contrasts with LARRY SHREEVE’s client-facing world. He translates LARRY SHREEVE’s research into solutions: when clients needed sofas for narrow apartments, he spent six weeks creating a modular oak frame that disassembled easily without sacrificing strength.
